With potential to be the largest sporting event in North Carolina history with over $400 million dollars of projected economic impact and 500,000 spectators over the 14-day event, the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG 2018) will be hosted by the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). North Carolina is the second state in the U.S. to host the World Equestrian Games.
Historic Tryon is poised to gain further notoriety, visitors and economic gains. The Tryon Tourism Development Authority’s board and town commissioners have started planning to help historic downtown Tryon host visitors to this premier event.
Additional tourism initiatives, marketing, publicity and welcome events are in the works as the board works very closely with TIEC staff. The TTDA will keep the local community updated on promotional opportunities and more.
Tryon-based lodging options, B&Bs and VBOs are encouraged to follow Explore Tryon Facebook Page and email Tryon@exploretryon.com to open communication and dialogue regarding ideas and challenges.
