Fall Festival
Celebrate fall at FENCE this Sunday, Oct. 9 from 1-4 p.m. This family nature event offers free lunch and free nature themed activities for the community.
Come out to FENCE and enjoy the autumn breeze with family and friends. Have fun on the trails visiting with plein air artists, naturalists with animal ambassadors, and engage in many other fun activities.
As one of the FENCE founding fathers, Dave Kirby, used to say “If you love the outdoors, come love it at FENCE!” We hope you and your family can join us on this fun day as we celebrate all there is to enjoy about nature.
Fall Bird Hike
On Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. FENCE welcomes back Aaron Steed to lead a fall bird hike.
With the large numbers of young birds moving south, some folks think that fall is the best time of the year due to the quantity of southbound migrants. Of course many of these travelers are in immature or fall plumage making for some identification challenges. We can expect warblers, vireos, tanagers, thrushes and maybe some of the more uncommon flycatchers. Join Aaron for a great two-hour walk around the FENCE property.
This event is free and open to the public. Bird enthusiasts of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. This event is made possible by the Kirby endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.
Wine and Paint Night
Come out to FENCE for a night of painting and drinking wine! On Thursday, Oct. 20, FENCE will be hosting a wine and paint night from 6-8 p.m. Local artist Christine Mariotti will be present throughout the night to demonstrate a painting for the group and help guests with their paintings.
Beginners as well as painters of all skill levels are welcome for this event. Join us for a fun evening where you will be able to create a unique piece of art to take home with you. The theme for the painting is an Autumn Scene.
There is a fee for the event, which will include all supplies for the evening. Pre-registration is required as space for the event is limited. Contact FENCE for more information or to register at 828-859-9021.
FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon.
