► Lake Adger appraisal estimates Lake Adger worth $5M

An appraisal was recently completed on Lake Adger, which estimated the lake to be worth $5,150,000. The appraisal can be viewed on the county’s home page at polknc.org. Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the appraisal at a meeting on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

The Polk County Recreation Department is offering sponsorships for youth sports teams this year. A sponsorship is $200, which includes the name of the sponsor on the back of the team jersey and recognition on the county’s website as well as other digital communications. Sponsorships are available for all sports, with the next seasons being for volleyball, with a deadline of Oct. 7 and then basketball. Questions can be asked by email at recreation@polknc.org.

► Saluda enforcing tree trimming ordinance

The City of Saluda is enforcing its tree trimming ordinance with 88 properties out of compliance, according to a report by manager Jon Cannon at the city’s Sept. 12 meeting. Ones out of compliance will be billed $275 each for the trimming with cleanup being the responsibility of the property owner. Commissioners approved a budget amendment to pay for the costs up to $22,500.
