Patty Otto, owner of Landrum’s popular eatery The Hare & Hound, received the designation of Landrum’s Citizen of the Year for 2015. She accepted the award from Bob Walker representing the Landrum Lion’s Club on Nov. 19 at the Landrum Depot. She will now serve as grand marshal of the Landrum Christmas Parade Dec. 3. The Budweiser Clydesdales’ visit and parade this spring, attended by thousands, was spearheaded by Otto.

Otto might have been the only person surprised by her being chosen as Citizen of the Year.

“I’m totally surprised,” Otto said of her selection. Otto said she was amazed with how well the parade came together with little time to plan for it.”It’s what small towns are all about,” she said of the spirit of cooperation that went into it, and how well everything seemed to fit the small town atmosphere. “It only comes together when a town comes together,” she noted. “This town came together. This is my home”, she said of Landrum. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.” Look for a full profile of her in the Nov. 28 edition of the Tryon Daily Bulletin.
