Not by words, but by deeds

One of my favorite parts of the Good Book are the letters of St. James and six chapters that pretty much sum up all that it takes to be a good Christian. Best of all, “It is not words but by your deeds that you will be known.”
Many people wear or display ribbons to bring attention to a certain cause they may be advocating. I suppose bringing attention cannot be harmful unless that is all you do.
My latest bugaboo are hashtags. Children are being kidnapped, raped and murdered in Africa, and Hollywood sends hashtags.
I recently received a wonderful letter from a fellow rescuer in Florida who read A Voice in the Hills. I was touched by what she had to say and was especially moved by a quote sent to me by James Russell Lowell: “All the beautiful sentiments in the world weigh less than a single lovely action.”
