Bulldogs take out Cardinals’ sunshine

Pendleton’s Bulldogs invaded Cardinal Stadium Friday Oct. 31, and took the shine off Landrum’s Senior Night, defeating the Cardinals, 40-0.
Landrum finished the regular season at 2-8 overall, and 1-6 in region play.
Two bright notes stand out for the Cardinals. Seventeen starters return next year. Also, the JV team defeated Pendleton on Thursday, to end the season at 6-4.
Head coach Jason Farmer knows what will make the Cardinals more competitive. It’s the weight room, and Farmer will waste no time in preparing his team for the rigors of next season. “We’ll start (working out) next week,” he promised. “We’re so beat up and hurt right now,” Farmer lamented, noting that when a team is in that situation, losing key players to injuries makes it difficult to compete.
“We did what we could (against Pendleton),” Farmer reflected. He likes the intensity of his players. “We’re happy with our guys who are coming back next year,” he remarked. “We’re excited about our young guys.”
Against Pendleton, “We kept it close in the first quarter,” Farmer continued. Then came the rain, and along with it, two Landrum fumbles. “We’ve got to figure out how to win in this conference,” Farmer added. “They (the Bulldogs) are a good football team. They’ll be better next year, too. It’s time to start thinking about next year.”
