LHS Cardinals face off against Chesnee at home

“We’re going to have to contain them with our defense and continue to play like we did last week on offense,” Mahaffey said. “We’ve got to play without mistakes and not turn the football over. I think we’ve shown when we do that we can be pretty successful.”
Mahaffey said the Cardinals have to keep a close eye on Chesnee’s 6-1 wide receiver No. 15 Bobby Foos, as well as quarterback No. 12 Darrius Proctor among others. Proctor finished Chesnee’s game against Liberty with 111 rushing yards and 83 passing yards. But Landrum has several offensive weapons of their own in star quarterback Aaron Bryant who had 194 rushing yards and four touchdowns in last week’s game. Helping him out will be Jacob Lanning, Gavin Bishop, JoJo Wilkins, Anthony Anderson and others.
Beating Chesnee isn’t the only thing on Landrum’s agenda Friday night though. The team and Cardinal faithful along with them will hold a cancer awareness night. The evening will include fundraisers for the American Cancer Society including a Crucial Catch Competition between the two schools this week. Also on hand for the night will be NASCAR legend and Hall of Famer Bud Moore for the coin toss.
“We’re pinking out the stadium,” said Mahaffey. “We want to play hard not just for the Cardinals, but for all those people in the stands who have fought cancer.”
Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.
