Second Wind Hall of fame welcomes its new inductees

Director Lynn Montgomery reported that the Scholarship Grant Committee sought to provide grants to adult applicants who needed help to pursue further education or training to qualify for a new career or for a higher position.
Current grants have been awarded to Marla Bailey, seeking a degree from UNCA. Previous grants were given to Lance Smith to complete seminary training and become ordained as a minister.
The main speaker was Ken Shull, president of St. Luke’s Hospital, who commented on the overall plans and timetable for the continuing expansion and renovations of the hospital’s facilities.
Explaining that St. Luke’s is still locally owned, he emphasized the crucial benefits the hospital receives from the community in volunteer efforts, in financial support, and in a dedicated local staff. He related some of the significant changes the new Obamacare regulations will bring to the medical functioning of our community hospital.
