On Wednesday the Polk County varsity girls soccer team hosted Madison in a pivotal Western Highland Conference matchup.
As soon as the clock started to roll Polk started putting the pressure on Madisons defense and goalie with several shots missing by mere inches.
This relentless pressure finally paid off with Anna Trakas scoring the first goal of the game. This was hardly the end of the day for Trakas as she scored another goal on a beautiful shot that went straight to the back of the net. However, the first half offense was not yet over for Polk as Jennifer Humphrey added one more goal for good measure.
Polk was up 3-0 and had Madison on their heels heading into the second half and they never let up.
In the second half Polk finished off their domination of Madison defeating them in a shutout and blowout 6-0.
Less than two minutes into the second half Brittany Phipps added another goal, giving Polk a 4-0 advantage.
The scoring continued for Polk as Jessica Antonio made a great move and a great shot to put the ball into the back of the net. The final blow was dealt by Polks Phipps as she scored her second goal of the game.
This game however was not all about offense for Polk as their combined force of Peyton Habenicht, Ashley Lynch, Jessica Umlauf, Jessica Rodriguez, Kailey Russell and Donna Every in goal suffocated Madisons offense into submission.
This was a solid conference win for Polk as they look to continue their reign of dominance.
