COLUMBUS—On July 4,  the Polk County Historical Association Museum and the House of Flags in Columbus celebrated the grand opening of their shared space at 33 Gibson Street. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held during the day’s festivities, commemorating a new chapter for both institutions, now under one roof.

“Both museums combine to bring local and national histories together in the most interesting way,” Williamson said.

Participating in the ribbon-cutting were Rebecca Hudson of the PCHA, Robert Williamson of House of Flags, and Columbus Mayor Pat McCool, also of the PCHA. A grant from the Polk County Community Foundation supported the grand opening events.

The museums are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.polknchistory.org and houseofflags.org, or follow the museums on Facebook.
