TRYON—Green Blades Garden Club nominated Vivian Cheek for induction into the Second Wind Hall of Fame, and the SWHF board accepted the nomination. Vivian was officially inducted at the final luncheon of the year of Green Blades Garden Club on Thursday, May 8.
Vivian has been president of Green Blades Garden Club for six years, a part of Gardening for Life for four years, and president of Foxie Ladies Club and welcoming committee. At First Baptist Church of Landrum, she has served as president of the Personnel Board and sings in the choir. Prior to moving to the area, she served with the Ashville Living Christmas Tree project for five years.
Vivian was a very successful Mary Kay director for many years and has served in many administrative positions with several companies. She moved to the area six years ago from Asheville, attended UNC Ashville, and won many awards during her professional career. She is married to Bill Cheek and has three children.
Her hobbies are gardening, crafts, church, and cooking. She would like to be remembered for her strong faith.
The mission of Second Wind is to recognize retirees sixty years and over who had a useful and productive life continuing beyond retirement while others paused to rest.
