Polk County High School athletics will soon have a new face on the sidelines as AdventHealth Polk has announced the addition of Evan Plumley as the school’s new athletic trainer.
Plumley, a 2025 graduate of Winthrop University’s Master’s of Athletic Training Program, will work with all sports programs at Polk County. He returns to the area after spending six years at Winthrop and brings with him a passion for high school athletics and mentoring students.
The addition of Plumley comes as current athletic trainer Jason Nussbaum has been promoted to Manager of Athletic Training. Nussbaum will continue to be involved with Polk County athletes and activities on a daily basis in his new role.
“Hiring Evan will allow us to expand our focus to include more programs centering around injury prevention, additional event coverage, individualized attention with treatments and rehabilitation and so on,” Nussbaum said. “AdventHealth is excited about the increased access our student athletes will have to healthcare services.”
Plumley has expressed enthusiasm about returning to the area and becoming part of the Polk community.
