TRYON—Wade Morgan, grandson of Eilene and Perry Morgan of Tryon and Karen and Jim Harden of Spartanburg, graduated with a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano from Arizona State University last month.

The two-year program involved accompanying singers and instrumentalists and preparing chamber music works under the guidance of ASU professor Dr. Andrew Campbell. For his Master’s recital, Morgan presented the Ravel Trio for piano, violin, and cello, the second movement of Rachmaninoff’s third piano concerto, and selections from Broadway musicals with vocalists.

Morgan received his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Bob Jones University and has played locally at Tryon Fine Arts Center, Tryon Methodist Church, and Tryon Presbyterian Church. He studied with Tryon pianist and teacher Dr. Elizabeth Child from middle school through high school.

“I’m so impressed with Wade’s hard work and perseverance, especially his mastery of advanced piano literature,” said Child. “His sound and musicality immediately captivate audiences. It’s a gift he’s had since he was very young.”

Morgan is currently taking some time off to determine his next steps and explore employment opportunities.
