MILL SPRING—On Wednesday, the Rutherfordton Town Council accepted a $500,000 Rural Economic Development Division Grant to fund a sewer line project to extend services to Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring.

The council awarded Double R Utilities, based in Gaffney, the construction contract for the sewer line. Additionally, Odom Engineering was contracted for engineering and construction administration services, while the Isothermal Planning & Development Commission will provide grant administration services.

This development follows the council’s approval of an amended agreement with Tryon Equestrian Properties, which included accepting a $100,000 Golden Leaf Grant to further support the sewer line project.
