LANDRUM—On Monday morning, the Landrum Lions Club generously donated $2,500 to Operation Hope in a show of support for the community. This contribution will bolster the organization’s ongoing mission to provide essential resources and assistance to those in need throughout the area.

Operation Hope offers vital services, including food assistance, utility support, medication aid, and a thrift store that caters to emergency needs. Additionally, the organization provides prayer support and assists individuals in obtaining their GED. 

“Our thrift store has a little bit of everything,” said Patrice Page from Operation Hope. “From housewares to clothing and kitchenware to hardware, there’s something for everyone,” 

The store operates with low prices to ensure swift inventory turnover, and all proceeds directly fund the organization’s operational costs. It has become a lively spot for shopping and volunteer opportunities in the community.

Operation Hope encourages individuals seeking assistance to call for an appointment if they require help with food, clothing, personal essentials, or financial support for utilities and medications. 

“We are a ministry providing food and other needs in the community,” says Page. “And we are very thankful to the Lions Club for their donation and all donations we receive.”

To apply for assistance, applicants must verify their residence within the Landrum/Spartanburg District One area and present a current driver’s license or state-issued ID, proof of household income, and copies of the bills for which assistance is being requested.

Operation Hope proudly serves the towns of Landrum, Campobello, Gowensville, and the District One area of Inman. Their philosophy, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ,” as quoted from Galatians 6:2, underscores their commitment to community support.

The Landrum Lions Club has also been actively involved in community service for many years. Recently, they celebrated the 100th anniversary of Lions Clubs International by unveiling a new reading space in the Landrum Library.
