GREEN CREEK—The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast is returning next Wednesday, November 20, at 7 a.m. at the Green Creek Community Center, located at 25 Shields Drive, Tryon. This popular event is free and open to the public, and all community members are encouraged to attend.
Ben Barham, an emergency program specialist from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Emergency Services Division, will be this month’s guest speaker. Barham is expected to provide crucial insights on the impact of Tropical Storm Helene and updates on response and recovery efforts for local farms and the broader agricultural community of Polk County.
Attendees can look forward to a delicious complimentary country breakfast made from fresh ingredients provided by local farmers, growers, and food producers. AgSouth Farm Credit, Farm Bureau, and Mountain Brook Vineyards sponsor the event.
The FOA Breakfast has a rich history, having been held for the past 13 years. It creates a unique opportunity for community members to engage with agricultural experts and hear from speakers representing various local farms. It also serves as a platform for neighbors to meet and connect with support agencies dedicated to preserving the county’s beautiful rural landscape.
In an effort to promote sustainability, attendees are encouraged to bring their own coffee mugs and plates to the breakfast. The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast occurs on the third Wednesday of every month from November through May.
