Like years past, over a hundred cheerful and festive individuals will compete in a parade float contest. This one-of-a-kind challenge will recognize the event’s best overall parade float display. In 2023, judges chose between 127 entries.

To participate in the event, the officials ask participants to bring a new, unwrapped toy to City Hall. The toys will then be donated to children throughout the community.

This year, the best parade float winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card and a special trophy.

All participants must follow parade guidelines to ensure safety. Due to time constraints, parade organizers say there will be no stopping during the parade, and there should not be any large gaps between floats. Also, individuals must stay on board their float until the parade’s end. Candy or other items cannot be thrown from floats. If participants wish to hand out treats, someone must walk beside their float to do so.

As always, Santa will appear at the end of the parade. To avoid confusion, city officials ask that attendees not portray themselves as Kris Kringle at the event.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., with the lineup starting at 5 at the Landrum Depot. It will travel down North Trade Avenue, turn left onto East Rutherford Street, and end at Landrum Middle School. Participants are encouraged to load parade floats before the parade lineup.

Applications can be found at Landrum City Hall or by visiting cityoflandrumsc.com. City Hall is located at 100 N. Shamrock Ave. in Landrum.
