Polk County earned a much-needed celebration Tuesday evening.
The Wolverines eked out a tough first-set win over Chase, then steamrolled the Trojans in the final two to complete a sweep in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match in Forest City.
The 28-26, 25-16, 25-7 victory served as the 200th win in head coach Molly Hill’s career. In her 11th season leading the Wolverines, Hill now owns a 200-62 record, her victory total by far the most in school history. Heather Claussen is next closest with 95 wins from 2008-2012.
Polk County, which lost senior Sophia Overholt last week to an injury, improved to 7-2 overall, 4-0 in conference play. Chase dropped to 6-6, 2-2.
Mia Bradley recorded 13 kills, six digs, five blocks and four aces in Tuesday’s win, with Morgan Yoder adding nine kills, eight digs and five blocks. Kylie Lewis had five kills, with Lexi Beiler adding four kills.
Akeela Cunningham had 10 digs, Hayden Blackwell had nine digs and Charley Dusenbury recorded eight digs to go with her 23 assists.
Polk County returns home Wednesday to face A.C. Reynolds in a non-conference match.
