Visitors may pick free homegrown produce
LANDRUM—The Landrum Fire Department recently brought back its community garden as part of a team-building project. Visitors to the garden may pick any of the homegrown items for free, the department has announced.
The garden will feature a variety of different items, including peppers, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers.
In the past, Landrum residents would stop by a community garden at the fire department to pick produce that can be used for ingredients in salads, sandwiches, salsas and more. After taking a few years off, the garden is now back in business.
“It’s just a simple gesture of our love for the community we serve,” the department said in a social media post.
The project was included in the City of Landrum’s comprehensive plans, and firefighters at LFD felt it was due time to bring the garden back, saying that it offers an opportunity for personnel to bond, have fun and de-stress, all while serving the community in a different and unique way.
Landrum Fire Department is located at 200 N. Trade Avenue.
