TRYON—Experience the charm of Oscar Wilde’s most renowned play, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” as it graces the stage of the Tryon Little Theater Workshop for two weekends—May 2 through May 5 and May 9 through 12. This timeless masterpiece, first performed on the London stage in 1895, is a delightful satire of Victorian conformity and social mores, set in the late Victorian era.

The play tells the story of two men, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who both assume the identity of a fictional man named Ernest, leading them to fall in love and find an assortment of problems along the way.

A wonderful group of actors has been cast for this show. Playing John “Jack” Worthing, J.P. is Kip Arrowood, Maggie Carter plays Cecily Cardew, and Kat Jones is Merriman. Luke Laughter is Algernon Moncrieff, Hillary MacArthur plays the Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax, with Paul Noga as the Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D. Laura Depta Peal portrays Lady Bracknell, Jim Powell is Lane, Mollie Turner plays Miss Prism, and Seth and Greg Coots are the servants.
