SALUDA—Tickets are now on sale for the Mountain Page Theater’s Young Actors Krew performance of Ian Fleming’s ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.’ this July. The show is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14, at Mountain Page Theatre.

The show is a unique 60-minute student-performer version of the popular stage musical, a rare opportunity to see a beloved family film come to life on stage. Adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.’ includes the Academy Award-nominated title song featured in the 1968 movie produced by Albert R. Broccoli. The story follows an eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, and his children, Jeremy and Jemima, who discover an old race car with magical properties.

“‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.’ is a charming show that reminds us that ‘teamwork can make a dream work’ and ‘having someone near and dear, someone to care for’ is the best way to travel through life,” says Drew Cohen, president of Music Theatre International. The students from Mountain Page Theater will spend part of their summer building friendships while working together to make their theatrical vision come true.

The YAK Summer Camp will facilitate creative experiences for local youth to connect with one another, express themselves, and stretch their imaginations. Dr. Corinne F. Gerwe, founder and executive director of Mountain Page Theater, believes in the power of creative expression in early childhood and the need for programming that enables children to experience growth in this area while interacting with others in a safe and positive environment.

In the summer six-week camp, youth ages 5-17 will explore, create, and collaborate all through the wonderful lens of theater. Depending on their interests and skills, the children will be responsible for everything from designing sets, sound and lighting systems, acting, choreography, teaching, and more. The camp will run for six weeks, from June 4 to July 14, three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Registrations are on a first come, first served basis and the cost of camp is a one-time $100 registration fee which is due upon registration.

Mountain Page Theater is located at 1303 Mountain Page Road, Saluda. Tickets are $12 for children and $20 for Adults and can be purchased at www.mountainpage.theater.
