Students from Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School performed in the 2023-24 Foothills Honor Band on Saturday, November 18. The concert was held at R-S Central High School in Rutherfordton.
Band directors from both counties selected students from their programs to represent each school at the clinic. Band students from R-S Central, East Rutherford, Chase, and Polk County High Schools and R-S Central, East Rutherford, Chase, and Polk County Middle Schools were included in the ensembles. Polk County Middle School had twenty-one students in the middle school ensemble and Polk County High School had seventeen students in the high school ensemble.
Students rehearsed for two days with guest clinicians and performed the concert on the afternoon of the second day. This is an impressive feat and shows the high level of talent and dedication of these student musicians. The high school clinician was Kevin Young, Band Director at Enka High School in Candler, NC.
