TRYON—The Tryon Parks Committee has been busy beautifying the Woodland Park entrance behind the IGA Supermarket.
The volunteers have been working to eliminate invasive plants like kudzu and improve the area with the addition of new native plants. Recently, they transplanted three Viburnum dentatum, 15 pink Muhly grasses and five Shenandoah switchgrass plants. Those who worked on the project were Linda Knippa, Karen Bird, John Lane and Greg Miner.
The plantings were made possible by grants from the Polk County Appearance Commission and the Tryon Garden Club. After planting, the new plants received a thorough watering thanks to the generosity of the IGA Supermarket.
