TLT to open 75th season on Sept. 28

Tryon Little Theater’s 75th season opener is “Honky Tonk Angels,” playing at the Tryon Fine Arts Center September 28 through October 1. But what would a musical be in Tryon without our beloved Pam McNeil at the piano?

McNeil is also the musical director for the show, working rehearsals with the three principals, honing the harmonies and pulling those notes together – not only for the singers but the musicians, too.

“Every show has its unique musical challenges,” says McNeil. “This show is all about country music and the love that can be shown through performing and listening to it. Quite a challenge for a non-country music performer like me, so I watched Ken Burns’ “Country Music” twice and spent many hours listening to country music to get the feel of the genre. 

“Having phenomenal musicians in the band is a HUGE help,” she says. “Lee Holroyd, Josh Tennant, Carsyn Tennant, Wilson Warren and Alex Tapp will be on stage to create a fun, musical experience for actors and audience alike.”
