New restaurant plans for early 2024 opening
TRYON—Tryon’s residents can look forward to yet another exciting restaurant when Rhema Soul Cuisine opens next year.
Originally from the Bronx, owners Ron and Via Childs previously had three Rhema Soul Cuisine restaurants in Phoenix, Ari., before relocating to Landrum and deciding to open their new location at 65 Depot St. in Tryon. Before relocating, the couple had two venues in Queen Creek and one in downtown Phoenix in 2013, before closing them to focus on their food truck in 2019.
The Childs first began their vision of opening Rhema in July of this year, and are tentatively planning to open in the spring of 2024, but are planning to have their food truck operational at the location on October 15. The food truck will be available primarily on weekends.
“We are soul food, we are bbq, we are comfort food. Homemade soul food, comfort food. That’s our concept,” Via says. “That encompasses everything.”
Ron and Via chose the name Rhema, meaning God’s vision in Greek, as it was going to be the name of their next child, should they have one.
“You can come to us and everybody can get fed. Dad can get the brisket, mom can get the shrimp, the kids can get buffalo chicken fries,” Ron added. “Be prepared to have a good addiction.”
Rhema Soul Cuisine will be open seven days a week, depending on staffing. For further inquiries, Rhema Soul Cuisine can be reached on Facebook and Instagram, or by contacting rhemasoulcuisine@aol.com.
