Family and friends attend proceedings to honor victim
POLK COUNTY— On Tuesday, August 15, Tyler Laughter appeared in Polk County Superior court where he faces involuntary manslaughter charges after shooting his girlfriend, Talia Petoia, in early March.
After being granted a continuance in April for further investigation, yet another continuance was granted this week due to the fact that the full medical report and autopsy report have not yet been released by the medical examiner, who is located in Winston-Salem.
Nearly twenty of Petoia’s family members and closest friends showed up to the hearing to observe the proceedings and to support Talia. Many of them wore pink, Petoia’s favorite color, in honor of the 27-year-old whose life was cut short.
Tyler Laughter’s next court date will be held on Tuesday, October 24 at the Polk County Courthouse.
