In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, April 19, with Judge James Marshall presiding, Polk County Court heard 51 cases. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of crimes.
Stephen Michael Almasy was convicted of driving while impaired. Almasy was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended under the condition of 12 months of unsupervised probation and 48 hours of community service. Almasy must also complete a substance abuse assessment and was fined $100 plus court costs.
Miguel Araujomaldanado was convicted of possession of an open container of alcohol in the passenger area of a vehicle. Araujomaldanado was fined $30 plus court costs.
Justin Lee Cates was convicted of violating a protective order. Cates was sentenced to 75 days in jail, suspended under the condition of 12 months of unsupervised probation. Cates was ordered to have no contact with Taylor Nicole Gates and pay court costs.
Crystal Dawn Ferguson was convicted of maintaining a dwelling for the use or sale of a controlled substance. Ferguson was sentenced to between five to 15 months in jail, suspended under the condition of 24 months of supervised probation. Ferguson must also complete an outpatient treatment program, substance abuse assessment, and pay court costs.
Jasmine Williamson was convicted of breaking and entering. Williamson was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation, 24 hours of community service, and must complete a substance abuse assessment.
