Special performance from Handel’s Messiah set for April 8

Tryon Seventh-Day Adventist Church will feature a special performance from Handel’s Messiah, “The Trumpet Shall Sound” on Saturday, April 8, for the 11 a.m. service.
Bass soloist Skip Fendley sang for 11 years at Hendersonville First Baptist Church for their annual Handel’s Messiah presentation, and 8 years for the Hilton Head Choral Society. Musicians Brennan Szafron, Chris Imhoff, Stacy Wiley, Sheryl McDonald and Cheryl Hagymassy will be accompanying Fendley.
Brennan Szafron is the organist and choirmaster of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon where he has served since 2021 and is also an adjunct instructor of organ at Converse University in Spartanburg, S.C.
Chris Imhoff is a trumpet professor at the S.C. School of the Arts at Anderson University and a Powell Trumpets Performing Artist. He holds a master’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Violinist Stacy Wiley received a Bachelor of Music from the University of S.C. She maintains a private violin studio and plays in concerts in local churches, colleges and orchestras throughout the year.
Violinist Sheryl McDonald is a retired orchestra music teacher living in Ranger, Ga. She received a music degree from Pacific Union College in Napa Valley, Calif.
Cheryl Hagymassy is a violinist and pianist teaching around the area. She studied at Crane School of Music in upstate N.Y.
