LANDRUM–Conserving Carolina and the Landrum Library are offering a free lecture entitled, “Spring Migration of Songbirds through the Southeast,” presented by Pam Torlina.
Torlina is the southeast stewardship manager for Conserving Carolina. The program will be held on Tuesday, February 28, at 6 p.m. at Landrum Library, located at 111 East Asbury Drive Landrum, SC.
Torlina’s presentation will focus on the annual cycle of spring migration by songbirds through the southeast and the amazing feats these animals perform to ensure their species survive through the generations.
The presentation will highlight some of the species that will begin to arrive in our region soon, bringing with them bright colors and cheerful songs, sure signs of the renewal of spring.
After the presentation, guests will be invited to get an up-close look at nests, feathers and even bird specimens. (NOTE: it is illegal to possess any part of a migratory bird without the proper permitting, and Conserving Carolina is permitted by the federal government to collect and possess bird specimens to be used for educational purposes.)
This lecture is part of Conserving Carolina’s monthly Speaker Series at the Landrum Library, and it is made possible thanks to the Landrum Library. The next program at the Landrum Library will be held on March 2t, when Beth Button, District Coordinator for Spartanburg Soil and Water Conservation District, will present, “Don’t Feed the Goat!”
