First of all, I’d like to apologize for missing last week due to a mix up on my part.

In a nutshell it was entitled “Service dogs revisited” and I explained about another beautiful letter I received and the life saving dog now at his side. In conclusion I decided through the month of September any monies I receive for SC4V I will match from Lennie’s kids fund. Believe me; these dogs are saving lives, so the offer still stands.

I took my good friend Chuck Davis to lunch at Huckleberry’s, he and his wife Virginia will be in Chapel Hill by the time this is published. We are still working on getting one of his cats, Chisai, a home, she’s slow coming around but we’ll get there.

I met a fellow parishioner from my church at the vets, her Belle; a cute little Pomeranian type dog is having problems. She’s struggling with the bill which is mounting so I promised her I’d take care of her outstanding bill, just take care of Belle. Belle must have known I was there to help because she came over and licked my hand. I call that, giving me sugar.

I’ve just sent $1,200 to Animobile for animal I okayed. Kelly Sulik told me she’s only asking $1,000 for the operation, so the remainder will be put on my account toward any future animals I help. Thanks Kelly.

Ok, let me tell you about Latte, the animal we helped:

I was told that Late is a two year old Pit-Sharpei mix. Latte had blockage and the people who brought him in paid for x-rays and meds but couldn’t afford the procedure that was called for to remove the blockage.

Latte is now home and doing fine, it seems he had swallowed a rag about the size of a dish towel. The owners promised to give a little back, I hope they mean it if for no other reason but to restore my faith in human nature.

Patti Lovelace, the animal control officer, was at my house this morning. We’re putting some irons in the fire to help sick and injured animals that can’t get into the shelter. I’m going to try to line up a few of the rescues to put our heads together for a solution. Patti is looking for ways to raise money and in the meantime I told her I have her back. Any animal brought to the vets needing help will be listed as on of Lennie’s kids and my fund will handle the fees.

I don’t know what I’m going to run out of first, time or money, but as long as I’m here, I’ll keep on trucking.
