The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Carolina Foothills will start another round of Community Conversations on Wednesday, September 4. To kick off the series, Pam and Charley Rogers will present Moments Of Truth, a workshop designed to build relationships and community. The session is free and open to the public from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Tryon Depot at 22 Depot Street.
For the past five years, Pam and Charley Rogers have volunteered with the Charter for Compassion International (CCI), an organization founded on the Golden Rule. Their mission is to bring compassion to life through practical action in everyday life. So far, they have held 30 workshops, reaching more than 800 people in the area.
“Compassionate listening is a powerful tool of deep listening for inquiry and understanding. It was developed many years ago to help end apartheid in South Africa and is currently used to bring Israelis and Palestinians together in dialogue,” says Pam Rogers.
Moments Of Truth is designed to teach techniques that help to bridge deep divides through compassionate listening and the “Words Matter Strategies” to:
- Re-establish connections in fractured friendships, families, and communities
- Re-engage in conversation and find patches of common ground
- See beyond labels and ideologies in order to see the humanity we all share
- Seek mutual understanding and turn an “enemy” into a friend
Moments Of Truth is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Carolina Foothills (UUFCF) and is made possible by the generous support of ParsecFinancial Wealth Management. Seating is limited so please RSVP to 828-513-0570. For more information about the UUFCF and Community Conversations, go to www.UUFCF.org or call 828-513-0570.
