Legislator abstained from domestic violence House vote
BREVARD—Rep. Cody Henson’s cyberstalking case was continued again on Tuesday in Transylvania Court and he abstained from a domestic violence bill during a House vote on Wednesday.
Henson’s court case was continued until July 23. It was the third time Henson’s case has been continued.
The Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office issued Henson a criminal summons earlier this year for cyberstalking after a judge ordered his wife, Kelsey Henson, a domestic violence protection order against him in February.
The domestic violence bill was Senate Bill 493, which modifies laws about domestic violence protection orders. Henson voted on other bills on Wednesday. Senate Bill 493 passed unanimously on Wednesday.
Since his criminal charge, Henson has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020. He won his second term with the North Carolina House of Representatives District 113 last November. Henson lives in Brevard. The 113th district serves Polk, Transvylvania and most of Henderson counties.
