FGA team gymnasts show off in Charlotte

During the weekend of Jan. 11-13, Foothills Gymnastics Academy sent six girls from their Excel Gold and Excel Silver teams to the first competition of the 2019 season.

Hurley Bell, Eliza Then, Caity Elledge, Reeve Carroll, Zina Ishwar and Anna-Carlisle Keim competed in the Amateur Athletic Union Second Qualifier in Charlotte.

Despite being the smallest team against a number of other qualified teams, the Foothills Gymnastics Academy’s Excel Silver team earned third place.

Elledge received first on beam, first on floor, second on vault, third on bars and first all-around, with a score of 38.025.

Carroll achieved first on vault, first on bars, third on floor, fourth on beam and second all-around, with a score of 37.45.

Ishwar received third on vault, third on beam, fourth on bars and fourth all-around, with a score of 36.325.

Keim achieved first on vault, first on bars, first on floor and first all-around, with a score of 37.125.

The Excel Gold team demonstrated their skills by both gymnasts qualifying for AAU State competitions later this spring.

Bell earned first on vault, first on beam, first on floor, second on bars and first all-around. Then achieved first on vault, first on bars, fourth on floor and first all-around. 

The gymnasts are preparing for their next competition, the Furman Classic, in Greenville.
