Mitchell squeaks past Polk County JV girl basketball team

Mitchell eked out a 24-20 win Friday over Polk County in a Western Highlands Conference girls junior varsity basketball matchup at Polk.

The Wolverines (3-2) led 11-10 at the half, but the Mountaineers were able to rally in the final half to secure the win.

Kaylin Jenkins scored seven points to lead Polk County, with Emily Prince adding six. Savannah Parris scored three while Amy Chupp and Lauren Dotson each scored two for the Wolverines.

With exams scheduled next week at Polk County, the Wolverines will next return to the court on Thursday, hosting Brevard.
