Published 8:00 am Saturday, November 10, 2018
Holiday Joy, featuring the St. Nicholas Auction, will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Saluda, located at 72 Charles St.
Visitors may sip wine, sample hors d’oeuvres and listen to Deb Camacho sing her tunes as they work on that must-have Christmas list for their most discerning family and friends.
All proceeds from this fundraiser of Church of the Transfiguration support its charitable donations to community programs, such as Steps to HOPE, Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Polk County Schools, Brown Bag Groceries/Food Pantry, as well as emergency aid to neighbors experiencing sudden losses.
Two vacation homes will be offered in the St. Nicholas Auction: a five-bedroom, five-bath mountain lodge style home in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada; or a four-bedroom, three-bath French country cottage in a private Normandie style beach community, just minutes north of San Diego.
The list of offerings also includes two tickets to a live taping of the Stephen Colbert Show in New York City and a pair of antique porch rockers with canvas seats, hand painted by artists Anne and Bill Jameson.
Other offerings include a painting owned by Perry Como, of the Saluda Depot in its original location; various paintings of local celebrity the Oreo Cow, who pastures at Bray Moo Farms, by local artists Jim Carson, Suzanne Doyle, Bevie Hardy and Dorrie McKinley; two tickets for the Zipline Canopy Tour; and a golf cart rental for three days from Affordable Golf Carts of Saluda.
The Holiday Pantry offers home-cooked soups, quiches, casseroles, cakes and breads. The Art Works collection features handmade original watercolor cards, gift tags, bottle tags and bookmarks.
