Within the last two years, mandolin artist and singer-songwriter Sierra Hull has released a Grammy-nominated album, won her third Mandolin Artist of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association, and won the hearts of a sold-out crowd at Tryon Fine Arts Center, TFAC representatives said.
Now, Hull returns to TFAC for a Main Stage Series performance at 8 p.m. Friday.
An accomplished singer, songwriter and mandolinist, Sierra Hull achieved stardom as a solo performer in her teen years, and continued touring with her band throughout her student years as a winner of the Presidential Scholarship at the Berklee School of Music in Boston.
Master banjo player, Bela Fleck, who produced her Grammy nominated album, “Weighted Mind” for Rounder Records, said, “She plays the mandolin with a degree of refined elegance and freedom that few have achieved.”
She signed with Rounder Records when she was 13, and has appeared at the White House, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Hull will be joined on stage by her husband, multi-instrumentalist Justin Moses.
Moses brings traditional music alive on mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, dobro and bass. He has performed with Alison Krauss, Del McCoury, Emmylou Harris, Brad Paisley, Joe Diffie, Jerry Douglas, Bruce Hornsby, Peter Frampton and Barry Gibb, and made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in 2008.
Hull and Moses will perform a range of Americana and bluegrass tunes at TFAC on Friday.
Tickets and additional details are available at tryonarts.org or by calling 828-859-8322.
