Due to the threat of danger from Hurricane Florence, the Tryon Little Theater has had to postpone its season opening by one day this week.

Opening night for “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” is now set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, preceded by an audience reception 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the theater workshop lobby.

Producer Jody McPherson said the decision was made to move the opening back one night with the safety of cast and crew in mind.

“Some of our cast has to drive from Shelby and Spartanburg, and there was no way to predict if they could drive to rehearsals safely last Friday through Sunday,” she said.

That meant that final tech rehearsals to polish lights, sound, costumes, props and anything else could not take place on schedule, ruling out opening as originally planned for Thursday.
