Internationally recognized pianist Yefim Bronfman will perform the last concert of the Tryon Concert Association’s subscription series at 8 p.m. on March 26, 2019, at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Bronfman stands among a handful of artists regularly sought by festivals, orchestras, conductors and recital series, Tryon Concert Association representatives said. 

Bronfman’s 2018-2019 season takes him to Russia, Scandinavia, France, Germany, Italy and Austria. In the United States, he will return to orchestras in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas.

In recital, he will appear in many American and European cities, including New York, Madrid, Geneva, Munich, Berlin, Rome and Tryon.

In addition to a large number of classical music conductors, he has performed with chamber music partners, including  Pinchas Zuckerman, Martha Argerich, Anne-Sophie Mutter and many others. He has recently appeared on tour with mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozena.

His numerous solo recitals have included his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1989 and Avery Fisher Hall in 1993. In 1991, he gave a series of joint recitals with Isaac Stern in Russia, which was his first time performing there since his immigration to Israel at 15 years old.

That same year, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize and, in 2010, the Jean Gimbel Lane prize for piano performance. He has been nominated for six Grammy Awards, winning in 1997 with Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for their recording of the three Bartok Piano Concerti.

His catalog of recordings includes works by Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Prokofiev, Schubert, Mozart, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.

Tryon concertgoers will hear Schumann’s “Humoresque” in B-flat major, Op. 20; “Suite bergamasque” by Debussy, and Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 19 in C minor.
