Baptist Care Kitchen still going, after six years of serving locals

In late May, the Polk Baptist Association Care Kitchen celebrated two events — Memorial Day, and the sixth birthday of the Care Kitchen.
The Care Kitchen has been serving meals to people of the community who drop in from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. Just prior to the meal, the PBA Director, the Rev. Phil Bailey, or his administrative assistant, Shanon Brower, presents a short devotional and prayer.
More than 80 meals were served last week.
Donations are accepted, but not required. Meals are supported by local churches and interested individuals.
In addition to monetary donations, people may donate excess garden vegetables to the kitchen, which may use them for meals or to give out to guests.
