Free blood pressure check and diabetes risk screening are now being offered the third Tuesday each month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Saluda United Methodist Church, Wesley Cottage, 132 Greenville St., Saluda.
Pre-diabetes is a condition that comes before diabetes. It means that blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but are not high enough to be called diabetes.
People may have it and not know it, as there are no clear symptoms.
Those with pre-diabetes may get Type 2 diabetes soon or down the road, and are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke.
The good news is that people can take steps to delay or prevent Type 2 diabetes from occurring.
