The Tryon Men’s Golf Association had their Opening Day Golf event on April 2.

The format was a “Carolina Scramble,” and they had 37 players in the event. The winners of the opening day event were as follows:

First  place: Mike Bates, John Gargiulo, Bob Morgan and Ben Fox – 29

Second place: Ted Hiley, Richard Barraud and Steven Morgan – 32

Third place: Bill Kelly, Will Brown, Jim Shirley and Barry Flood – 32

Fourth place: Jerry Pospisil, Jerry Perry, Joe Eskridge and Tom McHugh – 33

Fifth place – Doug Gelbert, David Murphy, Ken Shull and Art Brown – 33

Closest to the pin on #12 – Bob Morgan – 7 feet 8 inches
