Wolverines outlast Bearcats in five-set thriller

Polk County won at Hendersonville for the first time since 2012 on Tuesday, handing the Bearcats a 3-2 defeat in a non-conference volleyball clash.
The Wolverines (6-2) also ended a streak of three straight losses to the Bearcats (4-3) with the 25-23, 15-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-8 victory.
Reagan Waddell had 19 kills and 29 digs in the match, with Grace Lauer adding nine kills and 10 digs. Carolina Castillo finished with seven kills while Ansley Lynch had six kills and 24 digs.
Kendall Hall had 23 digs, Sydney Waldman had 19 assists and Lauren Ketwitz had 25 assists, 15 digs and five aces for the Wolverines.
Hendersonville earned a 25-19, 21-25, 11-15 victory in junior varsity action.
Winners of five straight matches, Polk County returns to action on Thursday at R-S Central.
