POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, with Judge Pete Knight presiding, 63 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

Tanner Joseph Bowman was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Bowman was fined $40 and court costs.

Andrew Tyler Cason was convicted of resisting a public officer. Cason was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation and court costs.

Timothy A. Foster was convicted of misdemeanor probation violation. Foster’s probation was terminated.

John Wayne Franklin was convicted of misdemeanor probation violation out of county. Franklin’s probation was modified to unsupervised and extended for one year.

David B. Goldstein was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Goldstein was fined $40 and court costs.

Timothy Allen Nicholas was convicted of failure to appear. Nicholas was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served.

TRYON POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

During the month of April 2017, the Tryon Police Department answered 255 calls for service.

There were 17 citations, four accidents with property damage, four traffic controls, one arrest, 55 security checks, 14 disturbance calls, seven investigations, 26 assists to other agencies and seven vehicles unlocked.

COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

During the month of April 2017, the Columbus Police Department answered 532 calls for service.

There were 20 arrests, including 17 misdemeanors and three felonies and 183 charges, including 72 speeding citations, seven no operator’s license, three driving while license revoked, 22 drug charges, three uninsured motorists, eight careless and reckless driving, 12 registration violations and one open container.

Officers completed 7,952 premise checks, including 7,737 business checks, 128 church checks and 87 residence checks, assisted other agencies 23 times, completed 266 community patrols and received 80 hours of training.

COLUMBUS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT

During the month of April 2017, the Columbus Fire Department answered 92 calls for service.

Calls for the Town of Columbus station 1:

One mobile property (vehicle) fire; 13 medical assist; one emergency medical service; five EMS calls, excluding vehicle accident with injury; four motor vehicle accidents with no injuries; one power line down; four aircraft standby; three public service; one dispatched and cancelled en route; two no incident found on arrival; three false alarms; one sprinkler activation due to malfunction; one alarm system sounded due to malfunction.

Calls for the Columbus Fire Department Station 2:

Three medical assists; one EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury and one dispatched and cancelled en route.

Calls for Columbus Township Station 1:

One camper or recreational vehicle fire; 17 medical assists; one emergency medical service; one motor vehicle accident with injuries; three motor vehicle accidents with no injuries; four hazardous condition; two power lines down; one service call; one public service assistance; one good intent call; three dispatched and cancelled en route; one detector activation, no fire; one alarm system activation, no fire and one citizen complaint.

Calls for Columbus Township Station 2:

One fire; one EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury and one false alarm or false call.

One building fire

Calls in Saluda:

One medical assist, two motor vehicle accident with no injuries and one dispatched and cancelled en route.
