POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS
In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, with Judge Mark Brittain presiding, 74 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Alayna Nicole Bell was convicted of fictitious information to officer. Bell was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served.
Gilbert Buford Dickey was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Dickey was fined $75 and court costs.
Crystal Daniel Duprey was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Duprey was fined $75 and court costs.
Gabino Campuzan Gomez was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Gomez was fined $25.
Jason Michael Jackson was convicted of felony probation violation. Jackson was sentenced to 90 days in jail then probation will be terminated unsuccessfully.
John Dean McSwain was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce. McSwain was fined $50 and court costs.
James Cranders Neely was convicted of possession of marijuana greater than ½ ounce. Neely was fined $50 and court costs.
Donald Owen Nelson was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Nelson was fined $40 and court costs.
Patrick M. Sithalath was convicted of level five driving while impaired. Sithalath was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
John Michael Watson was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce. Watson was fined $50 and court costs.
TRYON POLICE DEPARTMENT
During the month of March 2017, the Tryon Police Department answered 273 calls for service.
There were 11 arrests, 10 citations, one warning, two accidents and 14 investigations. Officers completed 83 security checks, one traffic control, responded to 14 disturbance calls, assisted other agencies 27 times and unlocked seven vehicles.
