With less than 24 hours until the 71st annual Steeplechase begins at its new venue at 6881 S. NC Hwy. 9 in Green Creek, employees of Germack Audio/Visual Services and Sound Connection out of Forest City were setting up a stage for Saturday’s event. The race is now under the management of the Tryon International Equestrian Center and comes with a $150,000 purse, the largest in Steeplechase history, according to the TIEC website.
