Kip and Carol Jean Vosburgh, local senior triathletes, competed in the Lake Lure Triathlon, part of the popular Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad.  The event was held Saturday, Aug. 13, at Rumbling Bald Resort.

The triathlon included a 750-meter swim in Lake Lure, followed by a challenging 22.5K bike race and ended with a 5K steady up-and-downhill run which finished on the sandy beach. The Vosburghs brought home gold and silver medals in the 70-74 age group.

What a fantastic setting for a triathlon, which is one of the most scenic and well organized events they have experienced. As a couple, they hope to inspire others, including seniors, to just do it.
