Green Creek Hounds is offering a hunt clinic. Come learn all about foxhunting and riding to hounds in the beautiful Green Creek Hounds territory! The sport is exciting, fun and makes for wonderful friendships.
The clinic is open to the riding community and registration is required. Clinician, Erin Gambrell, is from Harmony Training Center, 1896 E. Green Creek Drive, Tryon.
This is a hands-on introduction to foxhunting in the safe hands of qualified instructors. You will learn hunt etiquette, practice riding skills needed in the hunt field from riding in a group at various speeds to jumping.
Riders will be divided into groups according to ability, including a group that wants to learn the basics and be able to Hilltop (walk, trot, some canter, no jumping), a similar group, Second Flight, with some small jumps, and a more advanced group, and First Flight, who can travel at speed and jump.
It will be a busy, fun-filled event. It’s a great way to learn about foxhunting, and accustom yourself or a horse to the sport. It is also a wonderful opportunity to increase your riding skills outside of a ring. Terrain is hills, woods, meadows and some creek crossings. This is not a “learn to ride” clinic.
Registration and release forms can be found at greencreekhounds.com. You must have your own horse. For registration questions email Greencreekhoundscm@gmail.com.
Send completed registration to: Cynthia Milligan, Green Creek Hunt Clinic, P.O. Box 677, Columbus, NC 28782. Call 828-817-4734 for more information. ASTM helmet, signed releases, and negative Coggins are required.
