From one naval officer to another

To the editor:
I want to respond to Captain Copelof’s letter (Tryon Daily Bulletin, June 17). Thank you Captain Copelof for your instructive letter. I still take issue with your judgment.
First and foremost, a flag raising ceremony is not a service.
Second, wearing your uniform at a function sponsored by a political organization is not the right place to wear your uniform. The perception is bad, especially when you are running for office.
So, I say again, Captain, poor judgment. I have spoken to other senior retired military officers and they agree.
