Polk County’s Caroline Lee has been playing soccer for most of her life, “basically as soon as I could walk,” she says.

Her years of dedication, and her starring for the Wolverines under head coach Lennox Charles and assistant coach Will Pack, have put her on track to move to the college level, where she’ll play for Southeastern Louisiana University on a scholarship starting in the 2016/17 school year.

Lee has always been a soccer devotee.

“It was the one sport I kept up with,” she said at her Wednesday, May 25 signing. The Women’s National Team is something a lot of girl players look up to.” She’d received the call from the lions back in February, but just signed her intention to attend the school and play soccer this week.

With the Lions’ fall semester and workout schedule approaching, knowing she’ll play on the collegiate level “is definitely becoming a lot more real.”

Is she nervous or excited?

“A little bit of both,” she answered.

She figures to play forward of midfield. “It’ll depend on what they need.”

When not on the field, Lee will study biology and pre-med.

Lennox Charles thinks that Lee “fits really well” with the Lions and their style of play.

“Southeastern has been pretty good for a while,” he noted “She has the athletic ability. The toughest thing for her will be the normal college thing— being away from home. She and PCHS teammate Ashley Love who recently signed to play soccer for Emory and Henry College are going to work harder than they ever have on a soccer field.”
