Polk arrests man after fleeing residence on drug charges

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mill Spring man last week after the man fled the area in August prior to a search warrant being executed on his home.
Daniel Badger Franklin, 47 was arrested on Sept. 25 after the sheriff’s office’s PACE Team located him.
Franklin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of failure to appear in court on drug charges and one count of failure to appear in court on an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge, according to sheriff’s office reports.
On Aug. 13, the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant following an intensive investigation at Badger’s 26 NC Hwy. 9 North, Mill Spring residence, according to the sheriff’s office. Officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, benzodiazepines and multiple forms of drug paraphernalia, according to sheriff reports.
The occupant fled the area prior to the execution of the search warrant, officers said.
The sheriff’s office said Franklin has prior convictions for various crimes, including the possession of methamphetamine.
Franklin was in custody at the Polk County Jail as of late last week under a $21,000 secured bond.
